It started with "search"
The name "Tukuk-OS" sounds like a big operating system, but its seed was humble: one fast, honest search box. From there, module after module grew. We realized users did not just want to search — they wanted to get things done. So the search engine got siblings.
An app suite in the browser
Today, tap the apps menu and you find a full workspace: image & video editors, a background remover, a file format converter, collage, a design studio, a 3D editor, even a mini arcade. There are productive apps (notes, calculator, piano, drums) and the Satu Kata learning apps — building vocabulary with one word every day. Everything runs right in the browser; no installation, no annoying updates. Open, use, close.
Its own app store & APKs
The latest big step: Tukuk became its own application store. Every app can be installed as a PWA (all devices) or downloaded as an on-demand, Tukuk-signed Android APK (full guide in one of our other blog posts). This completes the circle — from "use it on the web" to "carry it on your phone as a real app".
Not just tools, but a world too
Beyond productivity apps, Tukuk is also a door to radio & music from around the world (now with a fast Asia route), news, and the NASA data hub — daily astronomy pictures, solar flares, radio flux streams. We want one tab to be enough for your day: work, play, and a little wonder at the sky.
A small philosophy
One principle binds all of this: build yourself the things you use every day, so you control the privacy, the speed, and the direction. Tukuk-OS may sound ambitious for a single project, but it is just a name for one browser tab that refuses to be tied to a store, to ads, or to anyone but you. The journey is still long — and each of these blog posts is a milestone marker. Thank you for coming along.
