The story of this flag
The national flag of Equatorial Guinea is a horizontal tricolour of green, white, and red with a blue isosceles triangle based at the hoist and the coat of arms of Equatorial Guinea centered on the white band. The flag without the coat of arms was raised upon the country's independence from Spain on 12 October 1968. While both the flag and coat of arms were adopted at independence, the coat of arms was added to the flag later on. The coat of arms and accordingly the national flag were briefly changed from 1978 to 21 August 1979, during the presidency of Francisco Macías Nguema.
